OUR PROGRAMMES

PRIMARY & SECONDARY

Primary Education

Our Primary School Programmes equip primary students with the necessary skills to cope with the demands of PSLE (Primary Six Leaving Exams). In line with the MOE syllabus, we help students develop study strategies and guide them with the methodology to target exam question types and enhance their accuracy.

English

We lay a foundation for the English Language by building up a solid vocabulary bank, right grammar usage and good sentence structure. They increase in confidence as they learn to speak right and write well.

Mathematics

Numeracy is as important as literacy. We introduce mathematical concepts through number bonds and modelling. Students get a strong foundation in Maths and learn to interpret questions and tackle them through rigorous practice.

In line with the MOE syllabus, we help students develop study strategies and guide them with the methodology to target exam question types and enhance their accuracy.

English

To gear up for upper primary, a wider vocabulary is introduced. Our teachers would also help them get familiar with all the rules in synthesis, and familiarise them with format question types for exams. Grammar rules and comprehension skills are further strengthened.

Creative Writing

One of the most popular subjects in Star Treasures is Creative Writing. From Primary 3, the students are taught to write well with the introduction of various writing styles through interesting lesson presentations. New phrases are taught each week in which they are guided to use them in their compositions. Story development is taught through interesting activities, where fun filled learning is employed to encourage creativity. Revision of phrases and new vocabulary taught in class help the students to write better and more confidently. Weekly revision helps students master the use of new vocabulary and phrases confidently.

Mathematics

Mathematics is often the toughest subject for many students at upper primary levels. To prepare them, tough problem sums are solved with simple methods that are easily identified. Tackling repeated question types help them to execute sums with higher accuracy. Mathematical concepts for each topic are strengthened in preparation for upper primary.

Science

Introduction to science at lower primary in interesting and provoking ways help to build interest and spark their love for the subject. Concepts are taught with real life examples as our teachers guide them to explore the world and bring theories to life. Through interesting pictures and videos, students are engaged to learn about the world around them through science.

In line with the MOE syllabus, we help students develop study strategies and guide them with the methodology to target exam question types and enhance their accuracy.

English

To prepare the students for PSLE, rigorous practice and repeated exercises on rules are given. Customised study guidelines and rules are taught to give students an idea of how to study and prepare for the English Paper. Skills for each section of the paper would be highlighted. Our teachers would assess individual performance and correct any misconceptions to ensure they are ready for PSLE.

Creative Writing

Compositions of individual students are polished to stand out among peers. Students develop a better understanding of what makes a good composition by analysing different writing styles and discussing model compositions. Customised weekly practices also help students enhance their vocabulary and the variety of phrases they can use to improve readability. Comments and alternatives suggested by the teachers help each child improve at their own pace and individual writing styles.

Exposure to different situation writing types in real world context not only help them to be exam-ready but prepares them for formal writing needs in the future.

Mathematics

In preparation for the demanding Mathematics PSLE paper, our teachers equip students with strategies to recognise question types and methods to execute solutions with clear workings presented. Though set in a group context, each child is paced and pushed to excel as maths is a subject where students have the greatest disparities in performance. Strong focus in both the Paper 1 and Paper 2 ensures each child harness his or her strength to achieve the best results. Special methods such as old ratio-new ratio, double units, speed ratio, unchanged difference and more are taught to help students tackle challenging questions at ease.

Science

Multiple choice questions take up a large percentage in the PSLE Science Paper. We help students analyse choices and learn to identify the correct answers among closely presented options. Rigorous practices increase their rate of accuracy. Key words in the written paper are very important. Many students fail to score due to a lack of understanding of the marking scheme. Here at Star Treasures, teachers equip students with the right keywords. Real-world context questions are increasingly important. To help students recognise the concepts, greater exposure to question types are given in class and discussed in-depth discussions to give students the edge over their peers.

Secondary Education

Our Secondary School Programmes build strong foundations in students not only for ‘N’ and ‘O’ levels, but prepare them for independence needed in the polytechnic and junior college education. Studying skills and individual performances are prioritized as each student learns to push their own limits and set goals.

English

With the new English syllabus, many students find it difficult to score. Lower Secondary students are introduced to the new marking scheme and taught how to tackle comprehension questions. A focus on new skills in summarising concepts and editing also help students score.

Students are guided on new writing styles and introduced to new composition types such as expository, argumentative and discursive compositions. Continual focus on widening vocabulary and insights helps to build a strong foundation in the English Language.

Mathematics

To build a strong foundation for the Elementary Mathematics at Upper Secondary Levels, the programmes for lower secondary Maths focus on drilling and practices. Our teachers guide each child with their method execution and check their working meticulously to help them score. Methods and concepts are clearly presented to help each child gain a good understanding of each topic.

Science

Group tuition for Lower Secondary Science is individually taught to cater to the different topics taught in various schools. The focus on Biology, Chemistry and Physics help each student build a strong foundation and clear understanding of the concepts. Our teachers guide individuals to work on their keywords and are exposed to in-depth discussions of questions and analysis of answering techniques.

Efficient working methods are discussed and checking skills taught  to improve accuracy in formatting their answers.

Additional Mathematics

A-Maths lay a foundation for H1, H2 Maths and other future Mathematics modules. It is also a prerequisite in many courses. A strong foundation in A-Maths is built as each topic is taught in depth with great clarity. Each student is paced to excel. Any topics that pose difficulties to individual students will be revisited if necessary to ensure each child can cope and eventually score. Accurate executions of problems are enhanced through practices of incremental difficulties and sound working principles. Many students had benefitted and improved through such close guidance.

Chemistry

Chemistry is important to both combined sciences and pure sciences as it lay the foundation for many coursesin higher-level education up to university. To help students score in Chemistry, the marking schemes and key words are clearly taught and discussed. Work is individually paced and students are assessed to strengthen any weaker topics. Rigorous practices in MCQ (multiple choice questions) help students understand closely presented options better and identify the right answers. Challenging context questions are discussed and analysed to help students apply concepts accurately in their answers.

Physics

Students often struggle with hard concepts in Physics. Our teachers break down such concepts into simple formulas where students can easily identify with. In preparation for the O Levels, intensive exercises are given and strategies taught to enhance better understanding. Exercises with incremental difficulties also help students improve gradually in their scores.
